Campaigns vs Playlist Placements: What’s the Difference?

What’s the difference, and when should you use each one?

Written by Carlos Teixeira

When promoting your music with PlaylistHub, there are two primary growth methods available: Campaigns and Playlist Submissions. While both can support your strategy, they operate differently and serve distinct purposes.

Campaigns – Direct Promotion via Ads

Campaigns are the most direct and reliable way to promote your music. They run as paid advertising on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, fully managed and optimized by our AI system.

  • Ads are automatically created and continuously optimized

  • Promotion is focused on a single track at a time

  • Minimum of 400 credits per campaign

  • Designed for fast exposure, launches, and testing audience response

Campaigns allow you to reach real listeners directly, with minimal risk of interference or external factors. This typically results in more consistent and scalable performance compared to playlist-based strategies.

Playlist Submissions – Placement in Third-Party Playlists

With your plan’s credits, you can submit tracks to a network of independent, third-party playlists.

  • Select the track you want to promote

  • Choose playlists that match your genre and style

  • Playlists accept or reject submissions based on AI-driven analysis of fit and quality

  • If accepted, your track is added for listener discovery

  • Placements last 5 days before rotation to keep playlists active

These playlists are externally managed, meaning outcomes can vary depending on curator behavior and other factors outside of direct control.

Summary

  • Campaigns: Direct, scalable promotion through ads (recommended)

  • Submissions: Third-party playlist exposure with AI-based acceptance

  • Automatic placements: Additional monthly exposure included in your plan

For best results, Campaigns should be the core of your strategy, with Playlist Submissions used as a complementary channel.
