Why did my monthly listeners drop suddenly?

Stream counts can change quickly due to 28-day reporting. Here’s why it’s normal — and what it means.

If you notice that your stream count dropped from one day to the next, don’t worry — it’s usually not a bug or a performance issue.

🎯 Most platforms, like Spotify, use a rolling 28-day window to display stats. This means:

  • Streams from 29 days ago are removed

  • Streams from the latest day are added

So, if you had a spike in streams 28 days ago, that day will automatically drop out of the calculation — and your total stream count may suddenly look lower.

This is expected, and part of how the system refreshes data.

📉 As time goes on, if your most active days fall outside of the 28-day window, your overall numbers can decrease — even if you’re still getting consistent daily streams.

✅ What this really means

  • Your music isn’t underperforming

  • It’s just a normal data update cycle

  • Drops and spikes are often due to this 28-day shift

📌 For a clearer picture of your progress, focus on weekly or monthly trends — not daily changes.
